Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about dog training, our programs, and how we work.
Are we a good fit for you?
If you are 100% committed to learning how to improve your relationship with your dog, we are a good fit for you! Our clients must be willing to commit to the hard work and lifestyle changes that are required to make you and your dog’s life more enjoyable.
While we cannot accomodate every training request, we are committed 100% to each of our clients and their dogs. We are a great fit for those who understand that working with a dog trainer is not simply a quick fix for a problem, but rather a commitment to learning skillsets to help your dog mitigate real world problems and distractions.
What types of tools do you use?
We use them all! Ultimately, we use whatever works best for the dog, as each dog is different. Often, we find a prong collar is the clearest, safest, and most effective way for owners to communicate with their pets.
Prong collars can be an effective tool for dog training when used correctly and responsibly. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation and fear-mongering surrounding prong collars, which can make people hesitant to use them. However, the truth is that prong collars are designed to provide feedback to the dog’s behavior, without causing harm.
When used responsibly, prong collars can actually benefit both the dog and the owner. They can make walking on a leash more enjoyable and safer for both parties, as well as help prevent injuries caused by pulling or lunging. Please reach out if you would like a more detailed explanation about how prong collars work and how they are utilized in our program!
How do I know which program is right for my dog?
Every dog and every situation is a little different, which is why we always recommend reaching out before making a decision. We’re happy to talk through your dog’s specific challenges, your goals, and your schedule to help point you toward the program that makes the most sense. Not sure where to start? Call or text us at (478) 319-6201 and we’ll help you figure it out together.
Where do training sessions take place?
All of our in-home programs take place directly in your home and neighborhood — where your dog’s real behavior happens every day. This approach allows us to address the exact situations and environments that are causing problems rather than training in a controlled setting that doesn’t reflect real life. We proudly serve Macon, Warner Robins, Perry, Byron, Fort Valley, and surrounding Middle Georgia communities.
What happens after the training program ends?
We don’t just train your dog and walk away. At the end of every week we meet with you to review progress, practice commands together, and make sure you have everything you need to maintain the training long term. For Board & Train clients, we come back to your home after the program ends to make sure the training transitions successfully into your environment. Our goal is to set both you and your dog up for lasting success — not just results that fade once the program is over.
