THREE-WEEK PROGRAM

More than basic commands — this is the program that builds the kind of reliability most dog owners are looking for.

Training takes place primarily in your home. At the end of each week, trainer meets with owner to: review progress, practice commands together, and teach long-term maintenance.

By the end of the program, you’ll have both a well-trained dog and the knowledge to continue reinforcing the training long-term.

WHAT WE FOCUS ON

If you want more than just basic manners, this program is designed to create a dog that listens reliably — even around distractions.

This program builds on foundational obedience and develops reliability: a dog that can stay calm in public, walk politely on leash, and respond to commands even when the environment is busy.

During the program we introduce:

Sit, Down, Place, and Recall

Core obedience commands are taught with an implied stay, meaning your dog remains calm and focused in position until you release them rather than popping up the moment you turn your back.

Calm Leash Walking

We teach your dog to walk politely beside you through neighborhoods, public spaces, and anywhere life takes you so that walks become something you genuinely enjoy rather than something you dread.

Off-Leash Communication

Using a properly introduced remote collar, we build reliable communication that gives your dog more freedom while keeping you confidently in control — this is what makes true off-leash reliability possible.

Real-World Distraction Training

We train your dog around other dogs, people passing by, busy public environments, and neighborhood activity so that staying focused becomes a habit rather than a hope.

Training that holds up in the real world

Because a dog that only listens at home isn’t really trained — they’re just comfortable.

Most dogs can behave in a quiet, controlled environment. The real test is what happens when the world gets busy. Another dog pulls at the end of a leash across the street. A group of kids runs past on the sidewalk. A stranger approaches at the park. These are the moments that matter — and they’re exactly what we train for.

Throughout the Advanced Home School program we deliberately introduce your dog to the kinds of distractions they will actually encounter in daily life.

By the end of this program your dog won’t just know what to do. They’ll do it reliably, every time.

Built for your lifestyle goals

Because the goal isn’t just a well-behaved dog at home — it’s a dog you can take anywhere.

Some of the best moments with a dog happen outside. On a trail through the woods. At the beach with the family. At an outdoor restaurant on a Saturday morning. At a neighborhood block party or a local festival.

Those experiences shouldn’t be off limits just because your dog isn’t ready for them yet.

The Advanced Home School program is designed specifically for owners who want more than basic manners. It’s for the owner who wants to hike with their dog off leash and actually enjoy it. Who wants to bring their dog to the beach without spending the whole time managing them. Who wants a dog that can come along for the adventure instead of staying home because it’s easier.

That level of freedom doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built through structure, consistency, and the kind of real-world training that prepares your dog for exactly those moments.

Our goal at Confident K9 is to help pet owners develop a deeper relationship built on trust through clear communication and mutual respect.

IS THIS PROGRAM RIGHT FOR YOU?

If you’re ready for a dog that listens reliably — not just sometimes, not just at home — this is the program.

This isn’t a starting-from-scratch program. It’s designed for dogs who are ready to take their training to the next level and owners who are ready to invest in results that last.

This program is the right fit if your dog:

  • Already knows some commands but doesn’t listen consistently — if your dog’s obedience is selective or unreliable, we build the kind of foundation that makes listening the default rather than the exception.
  • Struggles with distractions outside the home — if your dog falls apart the moment you leave the yard, we train them in the real environments where that focus actually needs to hold.
  • Pulls or becomes reactive on leash — if walks are stressful because your dog lunges, pulls, or reacts to everything around them, we address the behavior at its root.
  • Needs more reliable obedience around people or other dogs — if your dog can’t hold it together in social situations, we build the composure and focus that makes those situations manageable.
  • Has an owner who wants to bring their dog everywhere — if your goal is a dog you can confidently take to parks, outdoor events, neighborhood walks, trails, and beyond, this program gets you there.

WHAT LIFE LOOKS LIKE AFTER ADVANCED IN-HOME TRAINING

This is what you’ve been working toward — a dog that makes life better, not harder.

Training doesn’t end when the program does. By the time we’re finished, you won’t just have a well-trained dog — you’ll have the knowledge, the tools, and the confidence to maintain everything we’ve built together for the long term.

Here’s what you can expect by the end of the program:

  • A dog that responds reliably to commands — Not just when the environment is quiet and there are no distractions, but in the real world, in the moments that actually matter.
  • Calmer leash walks — Walks that feel relaxed and enjoyable rather than something you brace yourself for every time you pick up the leash.
  • Better focus around distractions — A dog that can hold it together when other dogs, people, and the unpredictability of everyday life enter the picture.
  • Clearer communication between you and your dog — You’ll understand how to guide your dog and your dog will understand what you expect, creating a relationship built on clarity instead of frustration.
  • The tools and understanding to maintain the training long term — Because a well-trained dog isn’t a destination, it’s an ongoing relationship. We make sure you leave with everything you need to keep the progress going.

Prefer to Board & Train?

Our Board & Train programs are just as rooted in real-world results. Your dog trains and lives with us — and when they come home, we come with them. We’re the only trainer in Middle Georgia who completes in-home transition sessions after every Board & Train to make sure the training sticks where it matters most.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about dog training, our programs, and how we work.

How long does dog training take?

It depends on your goals and where your dog is starting from. Our Puppy Foundations and Starter Pack programs are two weeks, our Advanced Home School is three weeks, and our Board & Train programs vary based on the level of training involved. Most owners start seeing meaningful changes within the first few days — and by the end of the program, the difference is significant. The key to lasting results is consistency after the program ends, which is why we dedicate time at the end of every week to teaching you how to maintain everything we’ve built.

Do you offer in-home dog training in my area?

Yes — we serve Macon, Warner Robins, Perry, Byron, Fort Valley, and surrounding Middle Georgia communities. All of our in-home programs take place directly in your home and neighborhood, which means your dog learns to behave in the exact environment they live in every day. If you’re unsure whether we service your area, give us a call or send us a text and we’ll let you know right away.

What age should dogs start training?

The earlier the better. Our Puppy Foundations Program is designed for puppies as young as 10 weeks old, making it one of the earliest structured training options available in Middle Georgia. Because we train in your home rather than a facility, we can begin working with young puppies before many traditional programs would even accept them. For older dogs, it’s never too late — we work with dogs of all ages and tailor every program to meet them where they are.

Does training help with leash pulling and jumping?

Absolutely — these are two of the most common reasons dog owners reach out to us, and they’re exactly what our programs are designed to address. Leash pulling and jumping aren’t signs of a bad dog. They’re signs of a dog that hasn’t been given clear structure and communication yet. Through our Starter Pack and Advanced Home School programs we teach your dog how to walk calmly beside you and greet people politely — creating habits that stick because we build them in the real environments where those behaviors actually happen.
