Puppy Foundations Program

Build Confidence, Structure, and Good Habits From Day One

PUPPY FOUNDATIONS PROGRAM

For Puppies 10 weeks to 6 months

$1,095

TWO-WEEK PROGRAM

Puppies don’t need heavy training — they need clear structure, guidance, and confidence-building experiences.

Our Puppy Foundations Program is designed specifically for young dogs who are just starting to learn how to navigate the world. Instead of waiting until problem behaviors develop, we focus on building the right habits early.

Because our training is done in your home and your neighborhood, we can begin working with puppies earlier than many traditional training programs — helping them learn in the exact environment they will live in every day.

WHAT YOUR PUPPY WILL LEARN

Our focus during this program is not perfection — it’s building understanding and communication between you and your dog.

Training is always done at your puppy’s level of development and understanding.

During the program we introduce:

Leash Skills & Engagement

We teach your puppy to move calmly with you on leash instead of pulling, biting the leash, or ignoring your guidance.

Sit & Down

Basic positions are introduced in a clear, encouraging way so your puppy begins to understand and respond to guidance.

Place Command

Your puppy will learn to settle calmly on a designated cot or bed, one of the most practical and lasting skills a dog can have.

Confidence Building

We expose your puppy to new environments, surfaces, sounds, and situations to build the kind of calm confidence that prevents fearfulness later in life.

Food-Based Training

We use food and positive engagement to help your puppy understand which behaviors earn rewards, making learning feel natural and enjoyable.

Structure & Household Manners

We help establish daily routines that create a calmer, more manageable puppy in the home from day one.

All tools are introduced safely and explained clearly to owners so you feel confident continuing the training at home. Depending on your puppy’s needs, tools may include a slip lead, a prong collar when appropriate, and food rewards and engagement.

Why In-Home Training is Ideal for Puppies

Your puppy learns best in the place they actually live.

Many training programs require puppies to reach a certain age before they can start. Because we come directly to you, we can start working with your puppy earlier and focus on the real situations they encounter every single day.

That means we work on things like:

  • Door manners — teaching your puppy how to behave calmly at the front door instead of bolting or jumping
  • Household boundaries — establishing the rules of your home from the very beginning
  • Real-world leash walking — practicing on the actual streets and sidewalks your puppy will walk every day
  • Neighborhood distractions — building focus and confidence around the sights, sounds, and situations your puppy will regularly encounter

Training where your puppy actually lives leads to faster understanding and more practical results.

IS THIS PROGRAM RIGHT FOR YOUR PUPPY?

If you have a young dog and want to start things off on the right foot — this program was designed for you.

The earlier you start, the easier everything becomes. The Puppy Foundations Program is built for owners who want to get ahead of problem behaviors before they have a chance to take root.

This program is the right fit if your puppy:

  • Is young and just starting their training journey — we meet them exactly where they are developmentally and build from there
  • Needs help learning basic structure and engagement — if your puppy is all energy and no focus, we give them a framework they can understand
  • Is beginning to pull or ignore guidance on leash — early leash habits are much easier to shape now than to undo later
  • Needs confidence building and early social exposure — puppies that experience the world early grow into dogs that handle it calmly
  • Has an owner who wants to prevent problems before they start — the best time to build good habits is before the bad ones have a chance to form
Our goal at Confident K9 is to help pet owners develop a deeper relationship built on trust through clear communication and mutual respect.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our Puppy Foundations Programs.

What age should my puppy start training?

We recommend starting as early as 10 weeks old. The earlier your puppy begins learning structure and good habits, the easier everything becomes as they grow. Because we train in your home rather than a facility, we can begin working with puppies earlier than many traditional programs — giving them a head start before bad habits have a chance to form.

Is my puppy too young for a prong collar?

Every puppy is different, and we never introduce tools before a puppy is ready for them. During the Puppy Foundations Program we assess each dog individually and only use tools that are appropriate for their age, size, and level of understanding. All tools are introduced gently, safely, and with a full explanation to you as the owner so you feel confident and informed every step of the way.

Will my puppy be overwhelmed by training?

Not at all. The Puppy Foundations Program is specifically designed with young dogs in mind. We work entirely at your puppy’s pace, keeping sessions age-appropriate and focused on building confidence rather than demanding perfection. The goal at this stage isn’t flawless obedience — it’s laying the right foundation so your puppy grows into a calm, responsive, and confident dog.

What happens after the Puppy Program?

The Puppy Foundations Program is designed as the first step in your dog’s training journey. Graduates of this program are well prepared to move into our Advanced Home School program, where we build on that foundation and develop full obedience, reliability, and off-leash control. Think of the Puppy Foundations Program as setting your dog up for a lifetime of success.
